National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has accused BNP of playing tricks on the July Charter and reform implementation issues. He made these comments at an NCP dialogue on the impasse over reforms and what needs to be done at a hotel in the capital today, Saturday (May 9).
Nahid Islam said that the government has not taken a clear position yet. They are playing tricks. They say they will implement the July Charter. But when, how and within what time it will be implemented is still unclear. He further said that a deadlock has been created in the country. We want to come out of this deadlock and the government will have to take responsibility for it. That is why we are working from our place.
Nahid Islam said that if there is no opportunity to discuss this issue, the peaceful movement will become more difficult. How difficult the movement will be will depend on how the government responds. He further said that due to the lack of institutional reforms, the people of the country are still not able to enjoy its benefits. In addition, the law and order situation in the country has not yet been fully controlled and the human rights situation has not improved. He also mentioned that distrust still exists in the political arena.
