Prime Minister’s meeting to reopen closed factories

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and relevant parties regarding the closed factories. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Secretariat on Monday (May 4) morning. Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and State Minister Md. Shariful Alam and relevant parties participated in the meeting.
In April, the ministry announced that six closed government jute mills would be reopened by private initiatives within six months. The Textiles and Jute Minister also announced the government’s decision to reopen or lease the remaining closed jute mills in phases. The government hopes that this will increase investment, exports and employment.
