Government has undertaken a canal digging program for proper use of water: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government has undertaken a canal digging program for proper use of water. He said that this program has been taken so that waterlogging does not increase during heavy rains and it is possible to retain water during the dry season. He said this at a rally at the Sylhet City Corporation premises today, Saturday (May 2).
Stating that she is thinking of building a double-line railway line on the Dhaka-Sylhet route, the Prime Minister said that in addition to improving the road communication system, the government is trying to increase rail connectivity across the country. This will reduce traffic congestion and costs; she commented that building more roads will destroy cropland.
She also said that a 250-bed hospital will soon be opened at Sylhet Medical College and the government has plans to gradually increase it to 1,200 beds. She also announced plans to recruit 100,000 health workers across the country to ensure healthcare. The Prime Minister said that the government is going to launch ‘New Bud Sports’ from the soil of Sylhet. He said that about 130,000 children from all over the country will participate in it. He expressed hope that such athletes will emerge from it who will enhance the reputation of the country.
Stating that the government is working to implement its election promises, he said, a two-and-a-half-month-old baby cannot walk, but the work of implementing the government’s promises to the people of the country has started in the last two and a half months. It is possible to build a country by working hard. The expected Bangladesh will be built only through the work that the government has started for the country and its people. In addition, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on the CSIC to take initiatives to make children aware of not throwing garbage anywhere in the schools of the City Corporation.
