11-party alliance announces program to implement referendum demands
This information was given by alliance coordinator Hamidur Rahman Azad at a press conference after the 11-party alliance meeting at the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday (April 30). Alliance leaders were present at the time.
At the press conference, Hamidur Rahman Azad said, there was a mass awakening in the hope of building a new Bangladesh. The education environment is being destroyed due to the anarchy of the ruling student organization. The government has done a heinous act by denying the verdict given by the people in the referendum. The government has ignored the verdict of almost 70 percent of the people.
He also said, the government or political party will take the oath of the Constitutional Reform Council, which the people have given the responsibility for through the referendum. The government is now talking about amending the constitution with the power of a two-thirds majority in parliament. We strongly condemn it. A game of hide and seek is being played with the referendum verdict. The movement on the streets will be stronger by holding the hands of the people.
The government is monopolizing the parties without thinking about the suffering of the people. The local government is appointing party people as administrators without holding elections. In addition to forming public opinion against all this anarchy of the government, a program of protests, rallies and mass gatherings on the streets will be implemented in phases.
Among the divisional programs of the 11-party alliance to implement the referendum verdict, divisional rallies will be held in Rajshahi division on May 16, Rangpur division on July 11, Chittagong division on June 13, Barisal division on July 18, Mymensingh division on June 27 and a huge rally in Dhaka in October.
