A Hong Kong-flagged ship ‘QQ’ has arrived at Chittagong port with 26,000 tonnes of octane from Malaysia. This is the third shipment of octane in April. The ship docked at the port’s outer berth on Thursday morning (April 30). Authorities said that the oil will start unloading from the ship from noon.
Earlier, two more ships had brought 26,000 tonnes and 27,000 tonnes of octane on April 8 and 17 respectively. Against a daily demand of 1,200 tonnes, the 79,000 tonnes of octane arriving this month will last for more than two months.
Pride Shipping Line owner Nazrul Islam said that five more ships carrying octane and diesel are at outer berth. In addition, three ships started unloading oil at the port on Wednesday. He said that there are only three dolphin jetties at the port. So, even if we want to, it is not possible to dock all the ships at once. Meanwhile, the pace of cargo unloading has slowed down slightly due to bad weather.
