Thunderstorms likely in various areas by noon

The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of thunderstorms with gusts or squally winds in at least 9 regions of the country. This information was given in the forecast given from morning to noon today, Thursday (April 30). It said that gusty winds may blow from the west or northwest at a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour, which may make navigation on the river route risky. In this situation, river ports in the concerned areas have been asked to display warning signals.
The forecast given for the country’s inland river ports until 1 pm today said that rain or thunderstorms with gusts or squally winds from the west or northwest at a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur temporarily in the regions of Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet. For this reason, river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1. Meanwhile, in the nationwide forecast released on Wednesday night, the Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm with temporary gusty wind or squalls and thundershowers may occur in many places in Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions and some places in Rangpur and Chittagong divisions by 6 pm today. At the same time, moderate to heavy to very heavy rain may occur in some places in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. The forecast also said that day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
