2 killed in Banani bus crash

A passenger bus crashed into an Island bus in front of the Setu Bhaban in Dhaka’s Banani. Two people died on the spot in the accident on Thursday (April 23). The names of the deceased are not yet known. However, it is initially believed that the two deceased were City Corporation employees and were engaged in beautification work on the road.
Police and locals said that when some transgender people tried to board the ‘Bhuiyan Paribahan’ bus from Mohakhali to Gazipur, the driver and bus helper stopped them. At one point in the scuffle, the bus lost control and hit a footover bridge on the side of the road. At that time, the bus hit two City Corporation employees who were already working on the road, killing them. After the accident, the traffic police removed the bus from the scene, but the driver is said to have fled.
