Bhola Jamaat activist Sawda Sumi released on bail

Bhola Jamaat-e-Islami activist Sawda Sumi, who was arrested on charges of posting anti-state and government posts on Facebook, has been released on bail from the court. Today, Tuesday (April 7), Judge Sourav Roy Mithu of Bhola Judicial Magistrate Court granted her bail.
Sawda Sumi is the wife of Abdul Halim Bablu of Ward No. 6 of Bhola Municipality. Earlier, the police arrested her from her house last Sunday night. Later, the police sent her to the Bhola court yesterday, Monday. District Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah Kausar said that the woman was arrested on charges of posting anti-state and government posts on Facebook. During initial interrogation, the woman confessed to the crime. Later, she was handed over to the court under Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
However, he also said that it was not known at the time of arrest whether the woman was a Jamaat worker or not. Meanwhile, at a press conference organized by the district Jamaat-e-Islami yesterday afternoon, Jamaat-e-Islami District Secretary Md. Harun Or Rashid said that the police arrested Sawda Sumi from her house without any evidence of any crime. She has a three-year-old speech-impaired child. No one other than the mother can raise that child.
