JU student’s body recovered, injury marks on body
A student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been accused of murder. Police have arrested one person in this incident. Her bloody body was recovered from Kashem Ali’s house in Islamnagar area adjacent to the university at around 4:30 pm on Sunday (March 15).
The deceased student has been identified as Sharmin Jahan Khadija (25). She was a student of the 51st batch of the university’s Department of Public Administration. The student, a resident of Begum Rokeya Hall of the university, is the daughter of Shahjahan Molla of Tetoa Molla house in Kachua police station, Chandpur.
Jahangirnagar University Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam confirmed the matter. He said, “The matter is very sensitive and sad. There is no situation to comment on this matter right now.” It is learned that Khadija’s frozen body was recovered from Kashem Ali’s house today and taken to Enam Medical Hospital in Savar. The doctor on duty there declared her dead.
Police have detained a young man named Saif Uddin for questioning on suspicion of involvement in the murder. Rubel Howlader, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station, said that it was clearly a brutal murder. In the initial investigation, Saif Uddin identified himself as the student’s husband.
Saif, a student of Dhaka College, told the police that he returned home in the afternoon and found the door of the house locked from outside. Later, he entered the house and found Khadija lying with a head injury and blood on her body and informed the neighbors about the matter. Later, the owner of the house took her to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Rakibul Hasan Ishan, Assistant Superintendent of Savar Circle Police in Dhaka district, said that the deceased had serious injuries on his head. The body has been sent to the morgue of Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in the capital for an autopsy. Details will be known after the autopsy. Incidentally, the authorities announced the closure of all classes and exams at Jahangirnagar University from March 9 to March 28 to conserve energy and on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
