Youth shot dead by miscreants at Central Shaheed Minar
A youth named Rakibul Islam (27) was shot dead by miscreants in the central Shaheed Minar area of the capital. He was rescued with a bullet wound in the head and taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident took place at around 10 pm yesterday, Sunday (March 15). Shahbagh Police Station said that Rakib was chatting with friends on the steps of the Central Shaheed Minar. At that time, three or four miscreants shot him and fled. Later, Rakib was rescued in a critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The seriously injured Rakib was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at night. The young man died while undergoing treatment.
Inspector Md. Faruk of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost said that the body of the deceased Rakib has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
The deceased Rakibul Islam lived with his family in Nimtali’s Nazim Uddin Road area. His father’s name is Tariqul Islam Khokon. He is an employee of the Kuwait Friendship Hall of Dhaka University. Rakib was a second-year undergraduate student of Borhan Uddin College.
After the shooting incident, local people arrested one person and handed him over to Shahbagh Police Station. However, his name and identity were not immediately known.
