Police have recovered the body of a Janata Bank official in Bhairab, Kishoreganj, four days after his disappearance. He was working at the Bhairab branch of Janata Bank. The body was recovered from a bush next to the railway line of BSCIC Industrial Park in Kalikaprasad area of the upazila at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (March 4).
The deceased Alamgir is the son of the late Abdul Majid Sardar of Nurpur Lambahati village in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj district.
According to police and family sources, Alamgir was transferred from a branch in Dhaka and joined the Bhairab branch in August last year. 5 years ago, he married a teacher named Taslima Akhtar from Kalikaprasad area. Taslima teaches at a primary school in Bhairab. They have a child. Sources say that he had been arguing with his wife over family matters.
Taslima Akhter said, Alamgir left home last Sunday morning to go to the bank. After he did not return home till night, we learned from the bank that he did not go to the bank. Also, we became suspicious because his mobile phone was switched off. Later, after searching in many places, we filed a GD at the police station at night. After that, he could not be found for the last 4 days. On Wednesday, after receiving information through some workers, we went to the spot, identified the body and informed the police.
Taslima Akhter said, although he had a dispute with Alamgir, there was no quarrel that day.
Upon receiving the news, the deceased’s brother Wahiduzzaman and his family members came to Bhairab police station from Shayestaganj. Wahiduzzaman said, I came to Bhairab after receiving the news from Taslima. My brother has no enemies. He often quarrels with his wife, and she tells me. However, he cannot commit suicide. I think someone kidnapped and killed him. The matter may be revealed in the police investigation.
