People heading home during the voting holiday
People have started leaving the capital and other major cities ahead of the national parliamentary elections and referendum. Since Tuesday (February 10) morning, a crowd of people returning home has been seen at Gabtoli, Sayedabad, Mohakhali bus terminals and Kamalapur railway station.
Although tomorrow, Wednesday, is supposed to be the last working day, many have already left with their families. A familiar scene of Eid at the bus terminal. Transport officials said that the crowd will increase further from tomorrow. Advance bus tickets are also almost sold out.
Long queues for train tickets have also been observed at the capital’s Kamalapur station. Passengers said that everyone is rushing to their respective areas after a few years, getting the opportunity to vote in a festive atmosphere.
