1 killed in land dispute in Munshiganj

One person was killed in an attack by opponents while trying to prevent the occupation of a market under construction in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj. At least 8 people were injured in the incident. The attack took place in the Balasur area of ​​the upazila at around 5:30 am today, Tuesday (February 3). The deceased has been identified as Alamgir (50). He is a resident of Balasur area. The injured are Tamiz Uddin (65), Jahangir (55), Tarek (35), Tansel (22), Tushar (24), Abdur Rahman (23) and a few others. The injured are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Locals said that some people named Hannan Haji Gong, Manik Dakat and Taposh have filed a case in the court claiming ownership of some heirs of the land. After failing in the case, they tried to occupy the place with terrorist forces in the dark of night.
This morning, when the terrorists tried to occupy the market under construction with country-made weapons, Alamgir resisted. At that time, the opposing forces beat him and seriously injured him with sharp weapons. Several others were injured when he tried to resist. Later, locals rescued Alamgir in a serious condition and took him to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, but the opposing forces beat him again at the hospital gate. He was referred to Midford in a serious condition. He was later declared dead at the hospital. Srinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Mia said, “Initially, it is believed that the murder took place over a land dispute. We have received a complaint and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.”
