China: Crude stainless steel output rises 3.6% in 2025, net exports increase
China’s crude stainless steel production rose to 40.87 mnt in 2025, marking a 3.62% y-o-y increase, while apparent consumption grew 2.98% to 33.46 mnt, according to the China Iron and Steel Association. Imports fell sharply by 19.09% to 1.52 mnt, driven by a 21.6% decline in shipments from Indonesia. Exports were largely stable at 5.03 mnt, pushing net exports up 11.9% to 3.51 mnt.
