SteelDaily: PT Indonesia Guang Ching Nickel and Stainless Steel Industry (GCNS), an affiliate of Indonesia-based Tsingshan Group operating at the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), has obtained manufacturing process approval (MPA) from the Korean Register (KR) for its stainless steel products. The certification enables GCNS to supply material to the global marine and shipbuilding sectors, where KR approval is a key prerequisite.

According to KR certification details, GCNS produces stainless steel hot-rolled coils using an electric arc furnace (EAF) combined with AOD refining, followed by continuous casting. The approved products can be manufactured in thicknesses of up to 12 mm. In addition, solution-annealed products have been confirmed to meet KRs manufacturing process requirements in line with classification regulations.
The certification process was completed through close coordination among GCNS’s production departments under the supervision of the TTRI Customer Service Department, along with audits conducted by KRs inspection team. Sources indicated that GCNS received positive evaluations for its quality management systems, particularly in controlling hazardous elements and maintaining product consistency.
The KR manufacturing process approval granted to GCNS will remain valid until 4 January 2031, strengthening the company’s position in higher-value export markets and supporting Indonesias growing role in the global stainless steel supply chain.
