China: Iron ore prices edge down by $1/dmt d-o-d

Iron ore fines (Fe 61%) spot prices dipped by $0.55/t to $106.15/dmt CFR China on 16 Jan d-o-d. Trade activity was subdued and largely limited to medium-grade fines, with liquidity easing after strong trades in the previous sessions. According to reports, mills in Shandong are increasingly opting for blends of high- and mid-grade fines to improve cost efficiency, with procurement decisions being made on a need basis.
