Baltic dry index falls 1.7% on softer Capesize demand
The Baltic dry index fell by 1.7% (29 points) to 1,659 on 12 Jan’26 against 9 Jan. It declined largely driven by softer demand in the Capesize segment. The decline reflects a combination of temporary demand slowdown and cautious chartering activity across major dry bulk routes.

- Capesize: BCI declined 2.5% (66 points) to 2,574.
- Panamax: BPI lowered 0.4% (5 points) to 1,340.
- Supramax: BSI dropped by 0.72% (7 points) to 960.
