Former MP Shah Nurul Kabir Shahin announces resignation from BNP
Former MP Nurul Kabir Shahin has resigned from BNP. He announced his resignation at a press conference at the Ishwarganj Press Club today, Sunday (December 28).
At the press conference, he said, “I have been in politics with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for 43 years. I was elected MP in 2001. I was nominated in 2006, but the election did not take place. I was on the streets during the difficult times of the party after 1/11. Until my resignation, I worked for the party with the people in all the movements, fights and struggles of the BNP. Today, for personal reasons, I am announcing my resignation from the party, ending my 43-year political career.
He was a member of the BNP’s Mymensingh district branch (North) and Ishwarganj upazila branch. When asked whether he would contest as a candidate from any other party, he said, “I have not taken any such decision yet. However, I have collected nominations as an independent candidate. “I was, am and will be by the side of the people of Ishwarganj.”
