Financial Advisor blocked in Secretariat
Officers and employees of all ministries and departments have started a movement demanding 20 percent secretariat allowance for all those working in the secretariat. The incident took place on the third floor of the Ministry of Finance at the Secretariat at around 2:30 pm today, Wednesday (December 10). Till the time of writing this report at 4 pm, the protesters were standing in front of the Financial Advisor’s office and shouting various slogans.
It is learned that around 2:30 pm today, around 300 to 400 non-cadre officers and employees working in various ministries gathered at the Secretariat. Later, they marched and stood in front of the Financial Advisor’s office on the third floor of the Ministry of Finance and blocked him. At that time, they kept shouting various slogans through a microphone demanding secretariat allowance.
The protesters said that they had earlier blocked the Financial Advisor demanding ration. At that time, although he assured them of his consideration, it was not implemented. Moreover, despite announcing the introduction of dearness allowance for government employees, the government has not implemented it. The Finance Advisor has made it clear that even if the current government forms a new pay commission, it will not implement it. Today’s blockade is due to this accumulated anger.
Explaining the reason for the movement, a secretary’s personal officer (PO) said, “This movement is going on demanding 20 percent secretariat allowance for all types of officers and employees working in the secretariat. As long as the advisors, ministers and secretaries are in the office at night, we also have to stay. However, although officers and employees of various departments get various types of allowances outside the pay scale, we are deprived of it.”
