Buses set on fire in Savar and Dhamrai over Hasina’s verdict

On Sunday night (November 16) and this Monday morning, miscreants set two buses on fire in Savar and Dhamrai. SI Wahab of Savar’s Birulia police outpost said that miscreants set a bus on fire at the bus stand in Birulia, Savar in the early hours of the morning. The driver parked the bus and went to eat. In the meantime, the miscreants set fire and fled. Seeing the fire, security guards of a nearby construction factory and people from the surrounding area came and put out the fire. More than 50 percent of the bus was burnt in the fire. Later, fire service personnel came and inspected the scene.
At the same time, miscreants set a bus on fire on the highway in Dhamrai, Dhaka on Saturday night. A passenger bus standing in front of the Rural Electricity Office on the north side of the Dhulivita bus stand in Dhamrai caught fire. Dhamrai Police Station OC Md. Monirul Islam confirmed the matter. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. After receiving the news of the fire, two units of the Dhamrai Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control within about 15 minutes, said Fire Service Station Officer Md. Sohel Rana.
He said, some seats at the back of the bus were burnt in the fire. Someone may have set the bus on fire and fled. The bus was parked on the side of the road. However, there was no one in the bus. Dhamrai Police Station OC Md. Monirul Islam said that miscreants set fire to an old bus parked in front of the Rural Electricity Office on the north side of the Dhulivita bus stand and fled. However, some seats at the back of the bus were burnt. Efforts are on to identify the miscreants who set the bus on fire.
Meanwhile, the police have set up a check post in Savar today in protest against the Awami League’s lockdown program. Savar Model Police Station set up this check post in the Aminbazar area of ​​Savar on the Dhaka-Aricha highway since morning. Savar Model Police Station OC Jewel Mia said that in the wake of Sheikh Hasina’s verdict, a check post has been set up in Aminbazar to protect the safety of people’s lives and property. At this time, various vehicles plying on the highway were searched and the identity cards of passengers were checked. Meanwhile, this morning, Savar Model Police Station conducted a drive and arrested four Awami League leaders and activists on suspicion of involvement in the violence.
