Deschamps keeps Saudi club waiting despite million-dollar offer

Didier Deschamps is currently not associated with any team after leaving his post as coach of the French national team. In the meantime, Saudi Arabian club Al Ahly has made him a huge million-dollar offer to become coach.
Although negotiations between the two parties have progressed well in the past few weeks, no final agreement has been reached in the end. The main reason for this is that the experienced French coach has demanded complete independence in managing the team and various footballing decisions.
According to French and Spanish media, the 57-year-old coach had shown initial interest in Al Ahly’s project. However, he has expressed deep concerns about the amount of autonomy or freedom he will have in determining the direction of the team.
This issue has currently emerged as a major obstacle or deadlock in the negotiations between the two parties. Deschamps recently ended his glorious 14-year chapter as coach of the French national team.
Under him, France won the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 Nations League. He also led ‘Les Bleus’ to the 2022 World Cup and 2016 Euro Cup finals. Although he currently has no club in mind, those close to him say he is in no rush to return to football. He wants to take his time and consider everything.
