Expatriate dies in attack in Chandpur in the name of anti-drug operation
A person returning from abroad has been allegedly killed in an attack during an anti-drug operation in Chandpur Sadar. The incident took place on Wednesday (August 5) evening in the Mandari area of Shahmahmudpur Union of the upazila. The deceased, Shahjahan Patwari, is a resident of Mandari village.
Locals said that some local youths were conducting an anti-drug operation in the Mandari area. At that time, Shahjahan Patwari saw them running around and called to ask the reason. Enraged by this, the youths involved in the operation pelted him with bricks and stones, seriously injuring him. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared Shahjahan dead.
After the incident, locals blocked the road in the Mahamaya area and protested. After receiving the information, the police went to control the situation. In addition, one person has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
