The Home Minister assured that the opposition’s suggestions on amending the constitution will be accepted at any time

The first meeting of the special committee of the National Parliament formed to amend the constitution is being held. The meeting began at noon today, Tuesday (August 4) at the National Parliament House. The meeting was attended by Home Minister and committee chairman Salahuddin Ahmed and other members.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that even if the opposition party does not give its name to the committee, their suggestions will be accepted. He also said that the opposition party can give suggestions at any time. He said that discussions will be held starting from the proposal to the schedule of the constitution. He also said that the government wants to fully implement the July Charter. The committee’s work plan is scheduled to be finalized in today’s meeting.
On July 13, the National Parliament formed a 12-member ‘Special Committee on Constitutional Amendments’ with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed as the chairman. The government party asked the opposition party for five names to be included in this committee. However, the opposition party did not give any names. The opposition party rejected this committee and walked out of the parliament on the day the committee was formed.
The opposition parties alleged that the constitution is not amended, but reformed. Therefore, they have been demanding that the reform process set by the interim government be followed.
