Iran cancels plan to attack three facilities after Ukraine ‘apologizes’

Iran has canceled the operation at the last minute after preparing to attack three facilities in Ukraine. Mohsen Rezaei, a military advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claimed that Tehran has withdrawn from the attack plan after Ukraine ‘apologizes’.
According to a report by the Anadolu Agency published on Tuesday (August 4), Rezaei claimed in an interview with Iranian state television that the Iranian armed forces had made all the necessary preparations to attack three facilities in Ukraine. However, the operation was not carried out after Kiev apologized.
Rezaei’s statement came at a time when tensions between Iran and Ukraine have risen again. The Iranian military advisor also issued a stern warning about navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He said that no waterway in the Strait of Hormuz will be allowed to be used outside Iran’s designated route. He also warned that any enemy military vessel attempting to enter the strait using an “illegal route” would be targeted.
It is clear from Rezaei’s comments that Tehran is not ready to make any concessions regarding its control and scheduled navigation in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. In the interview, Rezaei also claimed that US forces have suffered heavy losses in the recent 17-day conflict.
According to him, Iranian missile and drone attacks have hindered the US military from achieving its goals. He also claimed that US forces have suffered heavy losses through these attacks. However, Rezaei did not provide any specific figures or detailed information to support his claim.
Accusations of attack on Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea-
Earlier, on July 25, Tehran accused Ukraine of attacking an Iranian merchant ship. Iran claims that one of the ship’s sailors was killed in the attack in the Caspian Sea. Since that incident, Iran’s stance against Ukraine has become more rigid. Rezai claimed that preparations were underway to attack three Ukrainian facilities in response.
However, the Anadolu Agency report did not provide any details about Ukraine’s alleged ‘apology’ and the cancellation of the attack. As a result, it remains unclear which three Ukrainian facilities Iran was targeting, how far the preparations for the attack had progressed, and what kind of ‘apology’ Kiev was seeking.
