Child dies while bathing in pond

A six-and-a-half-year-old child named Abdul Hamid died while bathing in a pond in Lakshmipur. The accident occurred near the government house in Shakchar village of Shakchar union in Sadar upazila on Monday (August 3) afternoon. The deceased Hamid is the son of Abdur Rahim, a grocer from Kacharibagh area of ​​the same area, and is a first-grade student at the local Polygon School.
Family and local sources said that Hamid and his two companions went to bathe in the pond after returning home from school this afternoon. They were learning to swim by floating in a tube in the pond. Although the child with him came out of the bath, Hamid did not get out of the pond. Later, he floated in the water. He was rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Mehedi Hasan Faruk, member of Ward No. 1 of Shakchar Union Parishad, confirmed the truth of the incident. “When a child who fell into the water was brought to the hospital, we found him dead. Later, his relatives took the body home,” said Arup Pal, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.
