Mother and daughter stabbed to death by son-in-law in the capital

A mother and daughter were stabbed to death by their son-in-law in a house in Kanthalbagan in the Kalabagan area of ​​the capital. Police have arrested the son-in-law Hridoy alias Shipon in this incident. Kalabagan Police Station OC Fazle Ashiq said that the incident took place at around 9:30 am on Sunday due to a ‘family dispute’. The deceased Shipon’s wife Farzana Akhter Ratri (20) and mother-in-law Firoza Begum (38).
It was learned from talking to the police and relatives of the deceased that the family dispute between the husband and wife had been going on for several days. The father of the deceased Farzana, Md. Faruk Hossain, said that last Friday his wife Firoza Begum and daughter Farzana had gone to their village house in Gosairhat, Shariatpur. Hridoy alias Shipon also went there last Friday to attend the wedding ceremony of one of their relatives. However, on the morning of the wedding, the husband and wife argued over some issue. At one point, Shipon returned to Dhaka without eating.
Faruk Hossain said that he, his wife and daughter returned to Dhaka from their village home on Saturday night and stayed at their house in Kanthalbagan. He was out of the house this Sunday (August 2) morning. Then, an argument broke out between Shipon and Farzana over the previous dispute. At one point, the situation became even more heated when Firoza Begum tried to stop the fight for her daughter.
Later, Shipon first attacked his wife Farzana with a sharp weapon. Then, he also randomly beat Firoza Begum, seriously injuring her. Farzana died on the spot. Firoza Begum was rescued in a seriously injured condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Faruk Hossain also said that after the attack, Shipon left the house with their one-year-old son Raihan. Later, the police rescued the child and arrested the accused Shipon. Shipon’s house is in the Mohammadpur area of ​​the capital.
Kalabagan Police Station OC Md. Fazle Ashiq said that the initial investigation revealed that at one stage of a family dispute between husband and wife, when the mother-in-law tried to calm the situation, the accused Hridoy alias Shipon got angry and attacked first his wife and then the mother-in-law. The police arrested him immediately after the incident.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp In-charge (Inspector) Md. Faruk said that the body of Firoza Begum has been kept in the hospital morgue. Preparations for the autopsy of the other body are also underway. The concerned police station has been informed about this. The police said that an investigation is underway to uncover the specific cause of the murder. The bodies are being sent to two morgues for autopsy and legal proceedings have been initiated in this incident.
