Amit Shah ordered firing on students: Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in Lok Sabha cause uproar

There was intense tension in the Lok Sabha since Wednesday (July 29) morning over the amendment to the anti-leakage bill. A comment by Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi has added fuel to the fire of tension. He accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of ordering the use of force on students. India Today reported this news.
He made this allegation regarding the police action during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20. Rahul Gandhi said, “The Home Minister has ordered firing on our students. Only the Home Minister or the Prime Minister can authorize the use of force.”
Immediately after this remark, there was a strong protest from the government bench. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju asked Rahul Gandhi to provide evidence in support of this allegation. BJP-NDA MPs also accused him of making baseless allegations, which led to sloganeering and temporary chaos in the Assembly. At this time, Speaker Om Birla reminded that such allegations cannot be made in Parliament without evidence.
Also, Rahul Gandhi told a story of a student in his speech. According to the student, while telling that story, he used the word ‘idiot’ several times. This also created tension for a while. Kiren Rijiju protested against it, calling the word ‘unparliamentary’.
