Mirpur College wall collapses, one killed, at least 7 injured
One person was killed and at least 7 injured when the boundary wall behind Mirpur College in Mirpur-2 Upazila of the capital collapsed. The accident occurred on Tuesday (July 28) afternoon when TCB was selling products in the Love Road-Mandir Road area.
Witnesses said that ordinary people were standing in a long line next to the college wall to buy TCB products. At that time, the boundary wall behind the college suddenly collapsed. Several men and women were trapped under the wall in this incident. Locals immediately started rescue work. Later, with the help of police and fire brigade, the injured were sent to various hospitals.
Meanwhile, after taking the seriously injured Nasima Begum to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared her dead. She is a resident of Janata Housing area of Mirpur-2 Upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station Hafizur Rahman said that a person named Nasima Begum was killed and seven to eight others were injured in the wall collapse. He also said that the cause of the accident is being investigated.
