Netanyahu arrives in US to meet Trump

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in the US to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss the ongoing situation in the Middle East, including Iran. The meeting is scheduled to take place in Washington. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said that in addition to the Iran issue, regional security and initiatives to expand peace in the Middle East are likely to be discussed.
“We will discuss all the issues on the agenda. The most important of these is Iran. At the same time, our goal will be to ensure Israel’s security and expand the scope of peace around us,” Netanyahu said before leaving for the US.
“As a prime minister, I can tell you from my experience that in such critical times, one must move forward with both firmness and wisdom.” Describing his visit as important, Netanyahu said, “I am going on this trip with a clear goal. And that is to ensure the security and future of our beloved state of Israel.”
Netanyahu said this would be the eighth meeting between the two leaders since Trump was re-elected president. “I have had more meetings with him (Trump) than with any other head of state in Trump’s second term,” he said. “It is a great honor, but also a great responsibility.” In addition to meeting with Trump, Netanyahu will also attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham during his visit to the United States. The US senator died on July 12 after a short illness.
