Government reviewing corruption allegations against Shahabuddin: Law Minister
The government is reviewing the corruption allegations against former President Md. Shahabuddin, said Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman. The Law Minister told reporters after a reception and training workshop for young lawyers organized by the Chittagong District Bar Association on Sunday (July 26) afternoon.
The Law Minister said that the government does not want to do injustice to anyone. However, the truth of the allegations is being verified. If evidence of the allegations is found in the investigation, legal action will be taken. Regarding the new presidential election, the Minister said that the next steps will be conducted as per the provisions of the constitution. The government will follow the constitutional process in this regard.
Stating that initiatives have been taken to quickly dispose of the July coup-related cases by sending them to the fast-track trial tribunal, the Law Minister said that the trend of false cases has reduced a lot compared to before. While addressing the young lawyers, Md. Asaduzzaman said that there is no easy way to succeed in the legal profession. We must move forward with a mindset of regular study, skill acquisition, professional integrity, and establishing justice.
