South Korea: DSP launches next-generation automotive stainless steel ‘NEW AUTONOX’
-
- Improved formability reduces cracks during complex forming
-
- Premium surface finishes target automotive exterior applications
South Korea-based Design Stainless Product (DSP) Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of colour-coated stainless steel products, has launched its next-generation automotive stainless steel material, NEW AUTONOX, at the Auto Manufacturing Technology Show (AMTS) held from 8-10 July at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in China.

According to DSP, NEW AUTONOX has been developed to offer better formability and processing stability compared with the existing AUTONOX grade. The material is designed to support stable forming of complex automotive moulded components, with particular emphasis on minimising cracks and surface damage during hemming and stretching processes.
The company stated that these improvements could help automotive manufacturers improve processing reliability and reduce material losses during production.
Higher productivity without equipment changes:
DSP also highlighted productivity enhancements in the new material. NEW AUTONOX can be processed on existing production lines without requiring equipment modifications, enabling easier adoption by manufacturers.
In addition, the material is available in coil lengths of up to 1,200 meters, which can reduce replacement frequency and improve continuous production efficiency. The product’s surface design has also been upgraded to strengthen its application in automotive exterior moulding materials. Improved weather resistance is expected to broaden the scope of application for coloured stainless steel in automotive exteriors.
DSP stated that interest in NEW AUTONOX is not limited to the automotive industry. Representatives from sectors such as home appliances and elevators have also shown interest in the materials surface treatment technology and potential applications.
Strategic outlook:
Through the launch of NEW AUTONOX, DSP aims to expand its presence in the global automotive materials market and broaden the application scope of stainless steel from conventional body materials to higher-value automotive exterior and functional components.
The company emphasised that the new product combines high formability, improved productivity, and enhanced design competitiveness, positioning it as a premium material solution for next-generation automotive manufacturing.
