Body of youth recovered from pond two days after going missing

Police have recovered the body of a youth named Abul Hossain (32) from a pond near his house in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali two days after he went missing. The body was recovered from the Mazar Road area of ​​Ward No. 1 of Eklashpur Union of the upazila at around 9 am today (July 12). Later in the afternoon, the body was sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The deceased Abul Hossain is the son of the late Babul of Eklashpur Union.
Police and locals said that Abul Hossain’s brothers live abroad and he was unemployed. There was a wedding ceremony for a niece at the house on Friday night. He had been missing since that night. On Sunday morning, locals informed the police after seeing a body floating in a pond near the house. Later, Begumganj Police Station recovered the body from the scene.
Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shamsuzzaman said that according to family members, Abul Hossain, who suffered from epilepsy, had been missing since Friday night. His body had swollen after being in the water for two days. The body has been sent to the 50-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.
