Chittagong-7 (Rangunia) MP Humam Quader Chowdhury said, I have stopped the sand business, now I will also stop cutting mountains. Illegal cutting of mountains will not be allowed to continue under any circumstances. Strict action will be taken in this regard to protect human life and the environment.
Yesterday, Friday (July 10) morning, he visited various areas of Rangunia Municipality affected by landslides due to continuous heavy rains and handed over relief materials and cash to the affected families. During the visit, he spoke to the affected family members, inquired about their suffering and assured them of taking necessary measures for their speedy rehabilitation.
He said, strict action will be taken against any activity that destroys the environment to ensure the safety of the people of Rangunia. Effective measures will be taken in coordination with the administration to stop illegal cutting of mountains. Humam Quader said, many people have been affected by continuous heavy rains. It is our responsibility to stand by them. Necessary assistance will be ensured to the affected families in coordination with the government and the administration.
At that time, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Nazmul Hasan, local public representatives, administrative officials, party leaders and workers and dignitaries were present. It is worth noting that due to continuous rain for several days, landslides have occurred in different areas of Rangunia Municipality. Several families have been affected by this. The Upazila administration, public representatives and various social and political organizations have continued relief and humanitarian assistance activities to help the affected people.
