Bus hits broken-down truck in Comilla, 1 dead
A passenger of a passenger bus was killed when a broken-down truck hit it from behind on the Comilla-Noakhali regional highway. At least 10 other passengers of the bus were seriously injured. The accident occurred on the highway at around 4:30 am today (July 7) in the Bipuleshwar area of Manoharganj upazila. The deceased is Mostafa Kamal (60), a resident of Kachihata village in Noakhali district.
Lalmai Highway Crossing Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Osman Gani said that a passenger bus of Nilachal Paribahan, which was speeding from Noakhali to Dhaka, hit a broken-down truck on the road in the Bipuleshwar area from behind. As a result, the front part of the bus was twisted. Mostafa Kamal died on the spot. During this time, 10 more passengers were injured. On receiving information, members of the Highway Police and Fire Service quickly reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation and sent the injured to a local hospital. He also said that necessary measures have been taken to maintain normal traffic on the highway after the accident. Necessary legal proceedings are underway in this incident.
