3 killed in Kishoreganj bus-pickup collision

Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup van loaded with cattle and a passenger bus at Sukhia Bazar in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj. The accident occurred on Monday (July 6) afternoon on the Kishoreganj-Pakundia road. The deceased were identified as Billal (35), son of Abu Sayeed of Pundail village in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi upazila, Khurshid (60), son of Abdus Sobhan of the same village, and Khokon (39), a pickup van driver from the same upazila.
Police said that the passenger bus named ‘Ananya Classic’ from Dhaka to Kishoreganj collided head-on with a pickup van loaded with cattle coming from the opposite direction. Three people, including the driver of the pickup van, were killed on the spot. Two others were injured. Six cows in the pickup van also died. Police and Pakundia Fire Service personnel reached the spot and rescued the victims.
Pakundia Fire Service and Civil Defense Station official Nur Mohammad Sarwar Hossain confirmed the matter. He said that after receiving information about the accident around 3:15 pm, a fire service team went to the spot and started a rescue operation. At that time, some people trapped inside the pickup van were rescued. The bodies of the three deceased have been handed over to the police.
