NID emergency service suspended at Election Commission
The Election Commission (EC) has suspended the emergency service related to National Identity Card (NID) operated by the Election Training Institute. On Monday (July 6), EC’s NID branch director (operations) Md. Saiful Islam informed about the matter.
An order signed by Md. Saiful Islam said that except for the application for correction of ‘Gh’ category national identity card that can be disposed of at the Director General level, the NID correction service for ‘A-1’, ‘A’, ‘Kh-1’, ‘Kh’, ‘G-1’ and ‘G’ categories will remain closed at the Election Training Institute building until further orders.
In addition, applications made online will not be accepted in hard copy. According to the new decision, the application for ‘A-1’ category will be disposed of by the Assistant Thana/Upazila Election Officer. The application for ‘A’ category will be disposed of by the Thana/Upazila Election Officer.
The application for ‘Kh-1’ category will be disposed of by the Additional District Election Officer. The District Election Officer will dispose of the application for ‘A’ category. The Additional Regional Election Officer will dispose of the application for category ‘G-1’. And the Regional Election Officer will dispose of the application for category ‘G’. It is to be noted that the Election Commission has been disposing of the applications for correction of categories ‘A-1’, ‘A’, ‘Kh-1’ and ‘Kh’ on an urgent basis at the Election Training Institute.
