Woman’s body recovered from pond two days after going missing in Tangail
Two days after she went missing in Sakhipur, Tangail, police recovered the half-melted body of a widow named Parveen Akhter (46) from a pond near her house. The body was recovered from a pond located south of the hospital gate of ward number 7 of Sakhipur Municipality on Wednesday (July 1) afternoon. Parveen Akhter is the wife of the deceased Humayun Khan of the area.
Family members said that Parveen Akhter lived alone in the house. Parveen Akhter last spoke to her son on mobile phone at around 9:30 pm on Monday (June 29). After that, the family members called her several times from Tuesday (June 30) morning, but she did not pick up the phone.
After this incident, her son Sohel Rana filed a kidnapping case with Fahad Police Station. Since the incident, police and family members have been searching for him in various places and finally his body was recovered from a pond near his house on Wednesday afternoon. The son of the deceased claimed that it was a planned murder. He demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the incident. In this regard, AKM Mamunur Rashid, acting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Basail-Sakhipur Police Station in Tangail, said that the initial investigation report indicates that it is a murder. The body has been sent to the Tangail Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and work is underway to identify those involved in the incident.
