4 arrested with fake notes worth Tk 4 million in the capital
Police have arrested four people after recovering fake notes worth Tk 4 million in a raid at Motalib Plaza in the capital’s Shahbagh area. The arrested are Nafiz Ahmed (26), Md. Rahmat Ullah (26), Yakub Ali Chowdhury (39) and Rubel (42).
They were arrested in a raid on a shop on the fifth floor of Motalib Plaza under Shahbagh Police Station at 7:10 pm yesterday (June 27). Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Department Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Niaz Mehdi confirmed the matter today (June 28).
He said that after receiving a tip-off from a secret source, the police came to know that some people were staying at a shop in Motalib Plaza with a large amount of fake notes. Later, a raid was conducted there and four people were arrested. At that time, fake notes worth Tk 4 million were recovered from their custody.
He further said that during initial interrogation, the police said that the arrested persons have confessed to being involved in the counterfeit money business for a long time. The process of taking legal action against the arrested persons is underway.
