Two killed in lightning strike in Mymensingh

Two people, including a college student, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Fulbaria, Mymensingh. Tuli Rani Sen (16) and Abdul Khalek (58) were killed in separate lightning strikes. The incident took place on Wednesday (June 24) evening in Devgram village of Putijana union of the upazila and Nijpara village of Kaladh union.
The deceased Tuli Rani Sen is the daughter of Jhuton Chandra Sen of Devgram village. Tuli was a first-year student of Fulbaria Government Women’s College. The other is Abdul Khalek (58) of Nijpara village. According to family sources, Tuli was standing near her house in the evening. At that time, she was seriously injured and unconscious in a sudden lightning strike during light rain. Later, her relatives rescued her and took her to the Fulbaria Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared her dead.
On the other hand, Abdul Khalek was struck by lightning on his way home from the market. Locals rescued him unconscious and took him to the Fulbaria Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. Fulbaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahidul Islam Sohag confirmed the matter. He said that government assistance will be provided to the family of the deceased.
