Two die of dengue, 157 hospitalized

Two people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 157 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals in the country. This information was given in a dengue press release sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (June 24).
The release said that of the patients admitted to hospitals due to dengue in the last 24 hours, 56 are in Barisal division (outside the City Corporation), 16 in Chittagong division, 11 in Dhaka division, 28 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 29 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 10 in Khulna division, three in Mymensingh division and four in Rajshahi division.
In all cases, the number of patients outside the City Corporation has been mentioned where applicable. In the last 24 hours, 119 dengue patients have been discharged from the hospital. As a result, a total of 4,919 dengue patients have recovered and left the hospital this year. A total of 5,317 people have been infected with dengue in the country as of June 24 this year.
Of the infected, 62.1 percent are men and 37.9 percent are women. Two people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours. As a result, the total number of deaths from dengue this year has reached 12. According to the Department of Health, a total of 12,861 people were infected with dengue in the country from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and 413 people died from the disease. In addition, a total of 1,21,214 people were infected with dengue in 2024 and 575 people died. The dengue situation was even worse in 2023. That year, 1,705 people died of dengue and 321,179 were hospitalized.
