Bride-to-be pushes husband to death from Lohagarh Fort
Bride-to-be Ketan Agarwal was pushed to death by her fiancé from Maharashtra’s historic Lohagarh Fort. However, just four days before this incident, a young woman named Siya Goel had tried to kill her for the first time at the same place. Such sensational information has come to light from a statement given by Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal.
The victim’s father Vishal narrated how Siya pushed 26-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal from the fort for the first time on June 14. Ketan miraculously survived by grabbing a bush during that journey. Then, to cover up his crime, Siya shouted ‘snake has come’ and hugged Ketan.
Vishal Agarwal said, ‘On June 14, the two of them went to the fort alone and Siya took the opportunity to push Ketan.’ After the push, Ketan was saved by grabbing a bush. Fearing that his secret plan would be exposed, Siya started shouting ‘snake, snake’. He also said that earlier, Ketan’s passport had mysteriously disappeared after reaching the airport for a pre-wedding trip to Bali.
Vishal Agarwal said, “After reaching the airport, everyone had a passport, but Ketan’s passport was not there. It seemed as if it had been thrown away somewhere. Despite a lot of searching, they returned home without finding it. Three-four days after returning, Siya again started arguing with Ketan and insisted on taking him to Lohagarh Fort.”
He further said, “Then on June 14, Siya took him to Lohagarh. They were alone there. When Siya pushed Ketan, he slipped, but managed to escape by grabbing a bush. When Ketan regained consciousness, he realised that he had been pushed and that he had survived. To control the situation, Siya immediately hugged him, shouting ‘snake, snake’.” The accidental murder turned into a planned murder.
Ketan Agarwal, a resident of Gahunj in Pune district and director of his family’s real estate business, fell into a 400-feet deep gorge near Lohagarh Fort on June 18. The fort, which is associated with the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Maharashtra.
Initially, the death was being treated as an accident. Siya had told the Lonavala village police that Ketan slipped and fell into the gorge due to strong winds. The police then registered a case of accidental death. However, after investigating the surrounding circumstances, the police became suspicious.
On Tuesday (June 23), the police arrested Siya Goel and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Babulal Chowdhury (22) on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy. Siya ran her own bakery and Chetan, a resident of Kondhwa, owned a dry fruit manufacturing company. They were introduced through business sources.
Pune village Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said that the investigation was looking into multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal ties. Police confirmed that Siya was in a love affair with Chetan and saw Ketan as a thorn in their side.
According to the police, the two had planned to kill Ketan. Siya took Ketan to Lohagarh Fort on the pretext of going on a trip and later called Chetan there too. Then the two of them threw Ketan out of the fort.
The local crime branch initially took Chetan into custody on suspicion. During interrogation, Chetan confessed to planning the entire murder. Based on that information, Siya was arrested. The court has sent both of them to seven-day police custody. “Based on the complaint filed by Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal, the Lonavala village police yesterday registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” said Superintendent of Police Gill.
It is worth noting that Ketan and Sia were supposed to get married later this year. Both the families were making grand preparations for the wedding, which included booking a royal palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. But before that, the young businessman was brutally murdered.
