Big fall in gold prices in the country

Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce the price of gold in the country’s market by a large margin. This time, the organization has reduced the price of a bhori of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,481 and set its price at Tk 2,25,290 including VAT. BAJUS gave this information in a notification on Wednesday (June 24) morning. The new price has come into effect from 10 am today.
According to this new price, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold in the country’s market will be Tk 2,25,290 including VAT. In addition, the price of 21-carat bhori has been set at Tk 2,15,142, the price of 18-carat bhori at Tk 1,84,757 and the price of traditional gold per bhori has been set at Tk 1,50,698.
The notification said that the price of pure gold has decreased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold including VAT has been set considering the overall situation. In addition, the price of 21 carat gold per bori was fixed at Tk 2,20,391, the price of 18 carat gold per bori was fixed at Tk 1,89,248 and the price of conventional gold per bori was fixed at Tk 1,54,606.
In this context, so far this year, the price of gold has been adjusted 80 times in the domestic market. Where the price has been increased 40 times, reduced 39 times and VAT has been adjusted 1 time. And in 2025, the price of gold has been adjusted a total of 93 times in the domestic market; where the price was increased 64 times and reduced 29 times.
