Nurse killed in road accident in front of hospital

A nurse named Meherun Nesa Tusi (24) was killed when a car hit her while crossing the highway on her way to the raw market after finishing her duty in Bogra.
The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in front of TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital in Thengamara area of ​​Sadar upazila on Saturday night (June 13). The deceased’s brother-in-law, who is a medical officer of the hospital’s neuromedicine department, confirmed this information to Swadhin.
Relatives and colleagues of the deceased said that Meherun Nesa is the daughter of Ali Azgar of Kakra Bindhara village in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat. She joined the CCU department of TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital as a staff nurse about three months ago. They also said that Meherun used to work in a mess in Thengamara area.
Meherun was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the highway after leaving the raw market after finishing her duty at around 8:30 pm yesterday. Her colleagues took her body away immediately after the accident. The funeral and burial were held at her village home on Sunday. Meanwhile, the death of Meherun Nesa Tusi has cast a shadow of grief among her colleagues. They said that the highway in front of TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital is very risky. There are no speed breakers there. Doctors, nurses, patients and relatives cross this highway at the risk of their lives to reach the hospital. They demanded that the driver be arrested and the killer vehicle be identified immediately. They also demanded the construction of an overbridge in front of the hospital.
