Rape case against ‘kidnapped’ Shibir leader

The kidnapping drama of Chhatra Shibir leader Jisan Pradhan in Daudkandi, Comilla has come to an end. Police said that he had voluntarily gone into hiding. In the meantime, a woman has filed a rape case against him and four others. After being rescued from Laksam in the district at around 10 pm on Friday (June 12), Jisan claimed that he was kidnapped in a car.
However, the Comilla District Police said in a press release sent to the media that no one had kidnapped Jisan, he had voluntarily gone into hiding. Police said that on May 20, Jisan Pradhan raped a woman in his rented house in Daudkandi, promising to marry her. Later, when the woman became pregnant, he gave her medicine to destroy the fetus. After this incident, when the woman pressured Jisan to marry her, he agreed to marry her yesterday.
Police also said that Jisan himself went into hiding last Thursday on the pretext of not marrying the woman. Later, he filed a missing person’s diary with the police station through his cousin Russell Ahmed. Meanwhile, after receiving news of Jisan’s dramatic rescue last night, the woman filed a case with the Daudkandi Model Police Station against 4 people, accusing Jisan of rape, aiding and abetting rape and destroying the fetus.
Comilla Police Superintendent Md. Anisuzzaman said that the missing Shibir leader has been rescued. No one kidnapped him. He himself went into hiding after cheating on a woman. The woman has filed a case against him. The case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The woman has made multiple allegations against him, including destroying the fetus.
Earlier, members of the Laksam Crossing Police Station rescued him from the Laksam Railway Junction at around 10 pm yesterday. Jisan Mia is the central assistant international secretary of the head of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir. He is the former president of the Comilla District West branch of the Shibir.
