In Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, Md. Mintu Mia, a long-time supporter of Brazil, has now officially switched sides and become a supporter of the Saudi Arabia national football team.
On Tuesday (June 9) afternoon, he publicly filled a 7-Up bottle with milk in the premises of the Hazrat Shah Pir Syed Ahmed Gechudarach Kella Shah (Rah.) shrine in Kharampur and bathed in that milk. At that time, he declared himself religious and announced the withdrawal of support for Brazil.
After bathing, he wore the jersey of the Saudi Arabia national team and announced his new support and also took out a joyous procession with the locals. Locals said that Mintu Mia filled a 7-Up bottle with milk purchased at a price of 80 taka per liter and bathed in that milk in public.
When asked about the reason for the change of party, Md. Mintu Mia said, Brazil is undoubtedly a non-Muslim country and I think they are involved in the killing of Muslims in the world. Therefore, out of conscience, I have withdrawn my support for Brazil forever. From now on, I am supporting the Saudi Arabian football team. To further strengthen this declaration of new support, he also announced plans to display a 500-foot long Saudi Arabian flag on Thursday morning (June 11). In this regard, local resident Md. Farak Ahmed said, he publicly renounced his support for Brazil by bathing in a bottle filled with milk. Later, Saudi Arabian supporters welcomed him with garlands of flowers and took out a joyous procession.
