Youth murdered in trivial incident in Aditmari

A youth named Liaqat Ali Laden (16) was allegedly hacked to death in a trivial incident in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat. The attack took place on Monday (June 8) night in the Sarpukur Government Primary School grounds of the upazila. The deceased Liaqat Ali Laden is the son of Ashraful of Balatari village in Sarpukur union of the upazila. He was a student of a local madrasa.
Police and locals said that Rabbi, the younger son of Jewel of Daspara village, abused Liaqat Ali Laden by calling him a marijuana addict over a minor dispute. Laden got angry and slapped the Rabbi. When the Rabbi informed his family about the matter, his father and elder brother Rocky got angry and tried to beat Laden. Which the locals immediately stopped. Later, around 8 pm, Laden was sitting alone in the nearby Sarpukur Government Primary School grounds. Allegedly, Rabbi’s elder brother Rocky stabbed Laden from behind and fled. Locals rescued Laden in a seriously injured condition and took him to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. Meanwhile, when the news spread, neighbors vandalized the house of accused Rocky. Upon receiving the news, Aditamari Police Station went to the spot to bring the situation under control. Aditamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque said that it was not possible to arrest the accused as they fled. However, efforts are underway to arrest them. The body has been sent to the morgue. The family of the deceased is preparing to file a case in this incident.
