College student stabbed to death in Gaibandha
A college student named Fahmid Rumon (18) was stabbed to death by an opponent in Gaibandha over a land dispute. The deceased’s brother Fardin Ruhit (20) was injured in the incident. The incident took place at around 9 pm on Sunday (June 7) in Peyarapur village of Trimohani area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased Fahmid Rumon is a first-year honors student of Gaibandha Government College. Rumon and Ruhit are sons of the late Faruk Islam of Peyarapur village. According to local and police sources, Rumon and Ruhit had a long-standing dispute with their neighbor Chana Mia Gong over the land of their house.
As a result, at one point during an argument between the two parties on Sunday night, the opposing party ambushed them and stabbed them. Locals rescued them and took them to Gaibandha General Hospital, where doctors declared Rumon dead.
The injured Ruhit is currently undergoing treatment there. Confirming the matter, Gaibandha Additional Superintendent of Police (B-Circle) Sheikh Muttazul Islam said, “One person was killed due to a land dispute. Legal action will be taken in this regard subject to investigation.”
