After West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh issues new instructions on sacrifice
After West Bengal, new instructions have been issued in Uttar Pradesh for Eid-ul-Azha prayers and sacrifice. State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that sacrifice cannot be performed in open or crowded places. Also, Eid prayers cannot be offered by blocking roads. He has announced a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against the sacrifice of ‘prohibited animals’. The Uttar Pradesh government announced this decision in a high-level law and order and administrative review meeting held through video conferencing on Sunday (May 24).
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that animal sacrifice will not be allowed in crowded or open places. He has directed that sacrifice can be done only at pre-designated places. Chief Minister Adityanath has directed the district administration that no new custom or tradition can be introduced around this festival. He has said that prayers should be offered only at conventional and designated places. He has also clearly instructed that blocking roads for prayers will not be allowed under any circumstances.
Yogi Adityanath also said that animals will not be kept in legal slaughterhouses beyond their prescribed capacity. The Chief Minister also directed to ensure security, cleanliness and power supply during the festival. Earlier, ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the new West Bengal government has imposed strict restrictions on animal sacrifice and slaughtering practices. Due to these stringent restrictions, animal sale has come to a standstill across the state and Muslim and Hindu farmers and traders have faced huge losses.
