Gold prices in the domestic market have fallen again

Ahead of Eid, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the price of 22-carat gold (11.664 grams) in the domestic market by Tk 2,158 to Tk 2,35,963. BAJUS announced this in a press release on Saturday (May 23). The new price will be effective from 10 am today. It said that the decision to reduce the price was taken in a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring due to the decline in the price of pure gold.
At this new price, the price of 22-carat gold per gram in the domestic market is now Tk 2,35,963. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold per gram has been fixed at Tk 2,25,232, the price of 18-carat gold per gram has been fixed at Tk 1,93,039 and the price of traditional gold per gram has been fixed at Tk 1,57,231.
In addition, Bajus has also mentioned collecting the prescribed 5% VAT from the buyers and depositing it in the government treasury and paying various wages according to the design of the jewelry. Earlier, Bajus had adjusted the price of gold in the country’s market on the morning of May 21. At that time, the company had fixed the price of a 22-carat gold bar at Tk 2,38,121. Accordingly, the price of gold has been adjusted 68 times this year.
