Government will not interfere politically in the economic sector: Finance Minister

There will be no political interference in the country’s economy. Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said this at the inauguration and fund announcement ceremony of the Bangladesh Start-up Investment Company at a hotel in the capital today (May 12).
He said that the government is working to further strengthen the capital market, investment market and the overall financial sector. Foreign investors are currently showing interest in the Bangladesh market. The government has decided not to interfere politically in the economic sector. The Finance Minister also said that this sector will be managed professionally.
The program also inaugurated the first fund of Bangladesh’s first institutionally managed venture capital platform, launched in collaboration with 39 commercial banks in the country. The platform has started its journey with a capital of about Tk 425 crore. The fund will mainly invest in seed, late-seed and Series-A stage startups.
